One year ago today this sweet litter of pups was born! It was one of the most amazing experiences Tony and I have ever had, and we continue to enjoy the photos and adventures of these sweet pups who have grown into pretty big hounds, indeed! Here are a couple of photos just to help us all remember how tiny they were just one year ago. (Watch a video of them when they were tiny.)
I heard from Sara and Steve, Roby’s parents, today, and have some recent photos to share of this darling boy! He looks so much like his papa, Laszlo! Just look at that face! Just beautiful!! Sara tells me he now weighs 60 pounds and is all muscle! They take him to a doggie daycare during the day while they’re both at work, where he gets to play with many of the same dogs they see on weekends at the park where they go walking on trails. The daycare also does some routine training, so I’m sure that comes in handy! Laszlo still gets a bit over-zealous when meeting new people at four and a half! Any extra training would always be welcome where my boy is concerned. Cipe is more disciplined in this area. Guess its just the boys, eh?!
Enjoy the photos, everyone! Happy Birthday, Roby!!
Well, next week the pups will all be one year old! Hard to believe it was a whole year ago that Cipe delivered this cute bunch of pups! I heard from David Givens this week about Calvin, who had gone on his first quail hunting adventure at a friends hunting preserve and did great! Calvin hadn’t been trained to hunt, but was on point with his first bird, and held it!! Way to go, Calvin! He had a great time. David said he ran around and played with the horses and got all silly romping and prancing.
Heard from the Burgesses over the winter and Birdee had a great time playing in the snow. Anyone who has ever watched a GSP and their first experience in snow can probably relate! Starts out a bit confused and quickly decides its the next best think to the river – maybe better! Here are a few photos that Brent sent me in January of Birdee and Baxter in their cozy home in Maryland on the river.
Hi everyone – I got a call from a local Raleigh family today about their GSP, Bella. Tony and I have gotten several calls from folks over the last six months or so looking for an older GSP (rather than a puppy), and I think this might be a good fit for someone! As you know, this is a high-energy breed and this family has had their life situation change a lot since they first adopted Bella. Please shoot Andy an email if you’re interested and want to learn more about her. I’ve pasted some info below from him about Bella. Thanks! – Amanda
Bella is a 6.5 year old German Shorthaired Pointer who lives in North Raleigh. She’s been part of our family since she was 7 months old. She was bought from a breeder in Wisconsin. She doesn’t hunt, but has been an avid running partner her entire life. She’s house-trained, great with kids, and is very playful. She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. She does not stay beside you if she’s off the leash. Our family has grown (2 kids in the last 3 years) and our lives are increasingly hectic, and so it has been hard to give Bella the attention she needs. We still exercise her regularly, but she’s been more and more discontent in our small house. We feel like it is the right time to try and find another good home for Bella, as hard as it will be for our family.
She has had 6 seizures in the last 10 months- we had a full battery of tests done to rule out anything serious. Our Vet told us that this condition can develop in dogs her age. She is on Phenobarbital to help limit the seizures. They are not harmful to her. Other than this issue, she is in great health. She weighs about 57 pounds, and can run forever!
She’d make a great addition to an active family, or a family with some room for her to run and explore. If you are interested in talking further about adopting Bella, please email me at andy.at.redeemerpca.net. Thanks for considering, Andy
You have to check out Cannon’s blog to see Birdie in action. It really is quite a thrill watching her retrieve! Still such a joy to remember these guys as pups and see how they’ve grown. Very much love them all. He has some videos posted and several photos: http://fladuckdays.blogspot.com/
The Wade’s sent some new pictures of Roxy, who has gone on her first hunting trip this past Saturday!! She did a great job retrieving birds “without chewing them up”! Way to go, Roxy girl!! She’s become a bit more curious about Olivia, their new baby girl born this past July. She enjoys licking her face, and once she took the pacifier out of her mouth and brought it to mama! I’m sure poor Olivia couldn’t figure out what was going on, but I’ll bet she and Roxy will be great friends just as soon as she starts crawling and pulling up on things. This is going to be fun to watch!

Roxy still loves the baby blanket from her whelping box and her little squeeky duck toy from when she was just a pup. We miss you, Roxy! So good to see pictures and know you're enjoying some adventures at the coast! What a beauty you are!
